What is robotics?

Robotics is where computer science and engineering come together to create objects which follow both disciplines. Robotics involves design and construction which involves engineering and operation and how the robot works which involves computer science. Robotics are designed so that they can help and assist humans in difficult tasks.

How LEGO education started.

Although LEGO education has now become a standard interestingly it wasn’t the LEGO company that started this innovation in how education is delivered. It was teachers who were using LEGO bricks in the classroom in 1980 to educate students as the hands-on learning experience was unique and productive. The idea developed that LEGO kits indeed can be quite a useful tool for hands-on learning and so we saw design-purpose LEGO education kits.

How LEGO education incorporated robotics

The great thing about education and innovation is that they both go hand in hand. LEGO didn’t just stop after introducing educational kits which initially were basic in nature and were meant for children at the beginning level. With time, iterations made it possible to include all age groups and further increase the level of LEGO education kits. It was in 1998 when LEGO launched robotics kits which made it possible for students to get their hands on coding which made learning possible with innovation.

LEGO in the education field

LEGO is a pioneer in educational learning that involves hands-on experiences. For over four decades, they have introduced LEGO kits that cater to the modern learning environment and are fully integrated into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Incorporating learning through robotics also boosts children’s confidence and self-esteem. That is why Robo Classes takes a pride in taking this initiative for the first time in the United Arab Emirates.

With the increasing popularity of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) based, Robo Classes has gone further as it believes that learning is more creative and rewarding when arts are also included so the whole concept of learning is changed altogether as STEM becomes STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).

The Many Benefits of LEGO Robotics for Children

Much like children who love to build with LEGOs, those same kids can have a blast learning robotics with LEGO kits. And the benefits of LEGO robotics for children go way beyond just building and playing with cool robots.

Modern times require modern solutions, and no one can deny how important programming and coding are! Therefore, we have coding courses for beginner levels so that they get to know basic knowledge about how a program works and how they can execute themselves as well!

  • Scratch Programming Beginner is a course that teaches children about Scratch, which is a block-based programming language. After the course, children will be able to implement basic coding, animation, and how objects can be moved, as they get to build their robots.
  • Python Programming Course Beginner Level is an easy-to-learn course for children to learn Python. Python is an important general-purpose programming language that is used to develop software, automation, data analysis, and informative work. Children learn about the basics of Python, the Syntax of Python, variables, Variables names, and many other key concepts related to Python in a fun and interactive way.

Five key advantages of using LEGO Kits in your child’s education:

  • Development of STEM skills

One big benefit of using LEGO robotics is that it helps develop essential science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills in young learners. By working on building and programming their robots, kids gain valuable hands-on experience with science and technology concepts. As they tinker and experiment, they learn how to troubleshoot issues and find creative solutions – important problem-solving skills that will serve them well in any future career path they choose.

Inspire Builder Kit is a basic program that we have developed at the fundamental level where children get to learn Mathematics, and Science by playing fun games.

  • Encourages creativity

Another great advantage of LEGOs is that they encourage creativity both in terms of the finished product as well as the construction process itself. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to put together a robot; it’s all about being imaginative and having fun while you figure out how to make your vision come to life. The creative possibilities are endless! Rubik’s Cube For Beginners makes learning fun and encourages creativity as children using 3×3 cube can learn about the layer-to-layer method so they can learn about the basics of the algorithm.

  • Educational Fun

Let’s face it sometimes schoolwork can be repetitive or even boring for some students but adding a robotic element such as programming can add an engaging component while still providing educational value. Lego Spike Beginner Kit is what takes learning to the next step that caters to children aged between 6 to 9 years where kids use basic drag-and-drop software to write codes. Learning could be so intuitive and full of imagination that the children are going to love this course.

  • Teamwork Opportunities

Working on group projects helps develop teamwork which is an important skill whether working within a corporation or other organization. Lego Spike Prime classes are developed with critical thinking and teamworking in mind. Children learn creativity and teamworking in this program where they get to make different mathematical models of robots and make them move with different sensors.

  • Social Skills

Interacting with others during the design process helps improve social skills by teaching patients when designing prototypes, listening abilities when seeking input from others, and delegation amongst team members.

How LEGO Kits Teaches Basic Engineering Skills

One of the most amazing benefits of LEGO robotics for children is that it helps them understand and learn basic engineering, programming, and science skills. LEGO robotics kits teach children how to build and operate robots and how they can program them. After all, developing computational thinking is as important as building a block so children can break down complex tasks into smaller steps or “algorithms”. Computational thinking is an important skill for all future engineers and programmers!

Arduino Robotics Course is where critical thinking fully comes into play as it is developed for 11 to 18 years of age students. In the Arduino Robotics course, children make different electric gadgets using open source electrotyping platform.

Drone Robotics Beginner Level Course is a fun course that takes children beyond the sky where they learn about how drones fly. This kit includes an educational drone where children learn to set up and fly using programming that they learned in our prerequisite Scratch Programming Beginner course.

  • Lego WeDo Robotics Classes are for children aged between 7 and 9 years and this set includes all the basic concepts related to Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology. Children learn about how to build a structure, and how motion sensors work, so they can build and program their bikes among many other exciting projects.

How are we making a difference

At Robo Classes we have many robotics programs which are designed for different age groups of children, so the learning is fun even after school, so the children do not feel any burden. Here are some of the programs through which we will guide you through. Any child who has ever played with LEGO bricks is going to excel in these Robotics Kit courses and they will share their learning is practically magical. The combination of so many individual pieces, colors, and shapes makes a LEGO kit a unique combination so that kids of all ages can learn. With the growing popularity of robotics in recent years, it’s not surprising that many parents are introducing their children to this exciting field early on and Robo Classes is proud to take the initiative in the United Arab Emirates.

Robo Classes not only believes that children should learn but also their learning should make them ready for jobs of the future as technology becomes prevalent in modern society, students need to have a strong foundation in STEM subjects, so they’re prepared for tomorrow’s workforce not only in the United Arab Emirates but also in the wider world. A focus on these disciplines will also help them understand and appreciate how much Science and Mathematics play an important role in everyday life.
